This isn&#8217;t on by default.  Turning it on allows you to visually distinguish between functions and variables far more easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to Tools -&gt; Options (or Global Options for Mac) on the menu, choose Code on the left of the pop-up and the Display tab as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"594\" height=\"618\" src=\"http:\/\/thedatapup.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/highlight_func_calls.png\" alt=\"highlight R function call image\" class=\"wp-image-533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thedatapup.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/highlight_func_calls.png 594w, https:\/\/thedatapup.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/highlight_func_calls-288x300.png 288w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> Then ensure the Highlight R function calls is ticked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, you may notice that the color formatting of comments and quoted text are almost identical in color with the default Editor theme <strong>Textmate<\/strong>.  You can change this by clicking on the Appearance option on the left of the same screen above, and choosing a different Editor Theme.
